History
Founded in 1874, the community of Westmount has traditionally been an enclave of wealthy Anglophones of British ancestry and is among the wealthiest neighborhoods in Canada.

Westmount lies over 3.9 square kilometers on the western slopes of Mount Royal and is situated walking distance from downtown Montreal.
Demographics
With a population of approximately 20,000 people, Westmount residents are predominantly bilingual with over 75% claiming English as their first language and almost a third being foreign-born.

Westmount features a seemingly endless variety of unique properties with incredible architecture, including executive style detached homes, high-end yet affordable semi-detached homes, stately grey-stones, quaint townhouses, Victorian cottages and a variety of condos.

Westmount is home to Dawson College, Quebec's largest CEGEP, Marianopolis College, Westmount High School, as well as some of the most prestigious private schools in Quebec, including Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School, Selwyn House School, Villa Sainte-Marcelline and The Study.

Westmount residents have access to a wide range of sports and recreation activities, including Westmount Arena joint ice rink and pool complex, Westmount Public Library, a lawn bowling facility, and the Westmount Rugby Club, the oldest active rugby club in North America.
